Whilst Lancaster may only be a small city, what it lacks in size, it makes up for in spirit. This year’s line-up of Christmas activities and events is no exception either, with so much available to take advantage of, this may be the best year to date! Whether you fancy a mosey around some Christmas Markets or indulge in some festive treats, there’s something for everyone…

Perhaps the biggest event in town, Lancaster On Ice is one to keep your eyes peeled for… After a successful first outing in 2018, the ice rink will be returning to Dalton Square on the 23rd of November. Accompanying this, we’ll also be welcoming back the ever-popular Tipi Bar with fire-pits perfect for toasting marshmallows! Making this year bigger and better, Lancaster On Ice have also promised an Observation Wheel standing at over 100ft high, available from the 12th of December.

A day on the ice is perfect for the whole family, even the most inexperienced of skaters who can hire a Polar Bear skate-aid. Gloves are certainly recommended. Tickets are available to be purchased on the day or pre-ordered online.

Once you’ve had your fill of ice skating, why not join in the festivities at  Christmas Light Switch On? Bring yourself down to Lancaster’s Market Square in the centre of town on the 24th of November and witness celebrities and musicians bring Lancaster to life! This family-friendly event begins at 2:30 pm and will include appearances from Jake Quickenden, N-Trance and Mr Bloom (CBeebies), as well as Santa Claus himself.

Third on our list of unmissable Christmas Events is perfect for anyone that is looking to buy unique handmade gifts, sweet treats, or simply revel in the festivities… Christmas at the Castle will feature over 50 stalls, Victorian carol-singers, jazz bands, and, of course, so much delicious food you won’t know where to start!
